Studio Langeweile is a design studio focused on creating designs for the everyday. It started from the belief that any mundane task or situation can be rich and meaningful, as long as we take enough time to observe and act with sensitivity.

‘Langeweile’ is german for ‘boredom’; a state that is a lot more free than most modern connotations tend to suggest. In a state of boredom, there’s nothing urgent, nothing calling for your attention. Instead, your mind can now wander and creativity is stimulated.

You have the time to notice small details in your surroundings, to make small adjustments such as re-stacking the candleholder. I hope to enable these empty moments with these objects and harbour sensitivity. The word ‘Langeweile’ is composed of two words that literally mean ‘long’ ‘while’. This reflects the overall goal of creating objects that you can live-with for a lifetime. The objects should be playful enough to have fun and excitement, yet be quiet enough to be able to remain in the background of everyday life. When life changes, these objects will adapt together with you, to new surroundings and evolving desires.
